1 Corinthians 2:7-8 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.  (NKJV)

I was going to continue on from my previous writing about a 6 week study that Pastor Dan has been teaching in Sunday school at my church, titled…“Everyday Evangelism”…  Statistics listed in my first days writing, sadly indicate that only 2% of the professed Christians in this country (USA), share the gospel on a regular basis…   How poor is this, considering all Christians have been commanded by Jesus Himself, to share the “Good News” of the gospel of Christ to all nations (family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors)…Matthew 28:19-20…

The first day’s writing on this important topic was on 1/29/13…   My last day of writing about…“Everyday Evangelism”…was back on 1/31/13…   Here is a link to my blog, where you can go back to these dates, to catch up at your leisure, if you’re interested…   www.Godsmanforever.wordpress.com   (Twitter) @Godsmanforever

But in my quiet time Bible reading this morning, I came across this opening scripture; and decided it to be important to get a better idea of how the non-believer perceives the gospel of Christ…or any other scripture God has given to us through His inerrant Word, the Bible…  Scripture reveals that the unredeemed sinner has been blinded by Satan, the father of all lies (John 8:44), to seeing, hearing, or understanding the gospel of Jesus Christ…

The Apostle Paul writes this, in…2 Corinthians 4:3-5But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.  (NKJV)

I came across a 7 minute video, explaining in detail about how Satan (the god of this age) blinds the un-believer to seeing (or hearing) and understanding the gospel of Jesus Christ; with much scripture to back up this biblical truth…      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9DMD2KVeyU

The Apostle Paul goes on from the opening scripture, to pen this in…1 Corinthians 2:10But God has revealed them to us through HisSpirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.  (NKJV)   Even believers will have a hard time understanding scripture, without relying on the Holy Spirit to help them understand what they read…  I say a short prayer before reading my Bible, asking the Lord to reveal the truth found in His Word…  The Apostle James (Jesus’ half brother) tells us this about spiritual wisdom, in…

James 1:5-6If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.  (NKJV)

The Apostle Paul goes on in this next verse, to explain why the unbeliever (the natural man) cannot understand…nor are they interested in hearing about the gospel of Jesus Christ; or any other truth found in the Bible…1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.  (NKJV)

Totally understanding every facet of exactly how the unredeemed sinner is chosen by God to be part of His family is definitely a mystery (one of many found in the Bible)…  But scripture is clear, that God must draw the unredeemed sinner to Himself…before they are awakened to the fact that they are in need of the Savior, Jesus Christ…  Jesus tells us this, in…John 6:44 Noone can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.  (NKJV)

The point of today’s writing is two-fold…  To explain to the dedicated, obedient Christian…that it is God’s work to un-blind the eyes of the unredeemed sinner; to finally see that they are headed to eternal hell; unless they seek Jesus Christ to become their personal Lord and Savior…  It is the believer’s responsibility to point the sinner towards Jesus Christ…by sharing their own testimony and/or the gospel of Jesus Christ…

I have heard it said more than once…that it might take someone hearing the gospel of Christ several timesbefore they (if ever) seek a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, to be graced by God with the free gift of salvation through faith alone in Jesus Christ…Ephesians 2:8-9

The other reason for today’s writing, is to allow God to open the eyes of those in need to the truth of having to understand and obey the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, before God graces them with salvation…

Here is a link for this most important days writing about how God’s grace is received to become a Christian in God’s eyes; through obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…

Heavenly Father, I pray that today’s Word will be used by You, to un-blind those in need of receiving Your gift of grace through saving faith alone in Your Son Jesus Christ… I pray for hearts and lives to be quickened by You, so that Your grace will fall upon those in need…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

  1. Sam Carver's avatar Sam Carver says:

Not to particularly pick on the statistic given in your first paragraph, but along with the reference to Matthew 28:19, one might want to additionally take into account what Jesus said in the previous verse prefacing that statement: “…All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” If this be true, then that statistic would be derived from evidence that has been wholly within His will. (That, however, is not to say what His will is for the future.) The thing is, these verses in Matthew do not give us a statistical expectancy of outcome since it follows that our inheritance is, “…predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:”, Esphesians 1:11. Also, the thing is, the statistics given on the web page entitled “Evangelism Statistics” @ http://bible.org, as referenced in your 1/29/13 post, can be misleading in that, first of all, the truth is 100%, not 95%, “of all Christians have never won a soul to Christ”. No human being has the power to do such or to know who belongs to Christ. Seems to me that one needs to be careful & that the reciting of these types of so called statistics can be just a vanity evidenced within certain kinds of worldly centered preaching.
