“Dare To Compare”

  “To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One.” Isaiah 40:25 NLT

     God hates the comparison with others that leads to self righteousness and a false sense of security in our own goodness instead of finding our security in Jesus Christ.

The comparison that God welcomes is the contrast between Him as the one and only Triune God and any of the false gods that have captured the hearts of men and put them in bondage to a faith based on performance rather than on God’s grace.

Man’s heart for worship since the beginning of time has often been filled with worship, appeasement, and sacrifice to the moon, the sun, and any number of false god’s and idols. 

The idea behind all of the false religions is what one must do to appease or win the approval of God or to become gods themselves. 

Christianity is the only religion that bases the approval of God on what He Himself has done for us in His life, death, and resurrection as Jesus Christ, and what He continues to do for us.

True worship consists of not doing good because we have to  but  to praise and glorify God for our salvation.

We can thank God that because Christ was good enough our right standing with God is assured through faith in Him rather than in by our own goodness.    When we dare to compare on the basis of the truth of the gospel, we will not have to worry about chasing after false gods who promise much but deliver nothing except eternal separation from Go.

Father, thank you for being my Way, Truth, and Life.  In Jesus
