“Gravy Train to Glory”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 NKJV
Gambling casinos and lottery stores are full of people trying to find the gravy train of easy money. A lot of children seem to think their parents are gravy trains.
Jesus Christ is God’s gravy train to glory. He pours out the blessings of salvation as a free gift to all who will get on board by faith.
Many have been taught that there is no such thing as a free lunch, and that we must work for everything we get. In the theological realm this carries over into the idea that we have to do something to earn what God has already done through Christ, as though that we must add something to Jesus’ death on the cross.
God’s gravy train of grace started before we were even a twinkle in our parent’s eye. He made plans for us to glorify Him before we were ever born. He invites all who labor and are heavy laden to climb aboard by faith for the ride of their lives.
As we ride God’s gravy train to glory, the Holy Spirit comes along side to provide strength and nourishment for the journey. He guides us into all truth, prays for us continually, and is the conductor of God’s all sufficient grace to keep us faithful and fruitful until we reach our heavenly home in glory.
Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was more than enough to pay our fare to glory. When we receive Him as Savior and author and perfecter of our faith, and surrender control of our life to Him, we can be sure that His goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives, and that we well dwell in His house forever.
Father, thank You for letting me come aboard Your gravy train to glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“For the LORD God is our light and protector. He gives us grace and glory. No good thing will the LORD withhold from those who do what is right.”
