                                      “Walls That Need Tumbling”

“For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.”    Ephesians 2:14 (NLT)

Walled cities were walls of protection in ancient days.  The Maginot wall was built to wall off France from German attack after World War 1, only to be run around during World War II.  The Great Wall of China remains as one of the truly great wonders of the World.

Today walls are used mostly to keep prisoners in rather than let them out, although many subdivisions have become walled gated communities for security against unwanted solicitors and robbers.

When Joshua waged the battle of Jericho according to God’s instructions, the walls came tumbling down.

When we wage our battles under the power of the Holy Spirit, against the sins that separate us from being who God has called us to be according to His instructions, the walls of unforgiveness, bigotry, addictions, greed, pride, anger, envy, lust, or any other wall of besetting sin will come tumbling down.

God’s prescriptions for doing life His way are all about tearing down the walls that keep us from being conformed into the image of Christ.

When we allow God’s mighty power to tear down the walls that impede us, and replace them with the fruit of the Spirit that edifies and reflects the love of God to others, we will be lifted up on wings of grace and become more like Christ day by day, year by year until we become glorified with Him in heaven.

Jesus Christ tumbled the wall of sin and death for us.  We are no longer imprisoned by sin.  It is time to start living a life fully pleasing to God and “fruitful in every good work.”

Father give me the strength, wisdom and spiritual discernment I need to tear down the walls that keep me from being all that you have called me to be in Christ.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

Blessings in Christ,  bruce r mills
