James 2:8-10… If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; 9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yetstumble in one point,he is guilty of all. (NKJV)
For those who are not familiar with what God requires to have sins forgiven…some believe that because they are basically good people, they will be going to heaven… They believe that because they haven’t committed any horrible sins like adultery or murder…and maybe they attend church every week…that God is a loving God, and their good points (and maybe their works done in the name of the Lord), far outweigh their minor sins… But God gives us the truth on getting into heaven, as revealed in His inerrant Word, the Bible…
We see in the opening scripture, where this seemingly minor sin of showing partiality in seating, where the rich were seated in the best seats in the synagogue…and the poor were made to either stand, or sit on the floor…was a sin worthy of being “convicted by the law as transgressors”…James 2:1-7…
God handed down the Law to Moses in the form of the 10 Commandments, for the Israelites to follow…Exodus 34:28-29… We can see throughout the Old Testament, that it was impossible for anyone to “keep the whole law”… And those that did not keep the whole Law would be under a curse…
Galatians 3:10-11… For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in allthings which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that noone is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” (NKJV)
This Old Covenant would eventually be replaced by a New Covenant that would allow for permanent redemption from one’s sins… God sent His Son Jesus Christ down to earth, born of the Virgin Mary…to be the Savior of the world…Matthew 1:20-21… The Apostle Paul pens this, in…Romans 8:3-4… For what the law could notdo in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sendingHis own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: Hecondemnedsin in the flesh, 4 that the righteousrequirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do notwalk according to the fleshbut according to the Spirit. (NKJV)
We are all sinners from birth; and deserve nothing but eternal damnation…Romans 3:23… for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (NKJV) But God loves us so much, that He sent His only Son Jesus to shed His blood on the cross at Calvary…Romans 5:8… But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christdied for us. (NKJV)
But only those who hear this message of the Cross with ears to hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 13:23), who are first drawn in by God (John 6:44)…will be graced by God with salvation through saving faith alone in Jesus Christ…
Ephesians 2:8-9… For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. (NKJV)
Only Jesus Christ was good enough to be the propitiation for our sins…Romans 3:24-25… Jesus paid for the sins of new believers, as Jesus’ righteousness is imputed in to the sinner…2 Corinthians 5:21… For He made Him who knew no sin to besin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. (NKJV)
Jesus is clear on how one gets to heaven, when He spoke these words, in… John 14:6… Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Noone comes to the Father except throughMe.” (NKJV) The “way” is through obedience to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… (See link at the bottom for more on God’s grace) The “truth”is found in the Word of God, and it will set the sinner free from Satan’s chains of bondage to sin…John 8:32… “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” And the “life”that Jesus speaks about is eternal life in heaven with His Father…
Jesus Christ is the only One in recorded history, who had control over His own death, and defeated Satan when He rose from the grave… And there is no other faith apart from Christianity…and no other way to heaven, apart from obedience to the gospel of Jesus Christ…for anyone to spend eternity with God the Father in heaven…
Heavenly Father, I pray that Your Word would cut right to the very core of the soul of anyone that You don’t know as a Christian, and one of Your redeemed children…Hebrews 4:11-13… Open their eyes Lord, and draw them to Yourself…John 6:44… I pray for hearts and lives to be changed by You for an eternity, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
