Colossians 1:10…that you may walkworthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; (NKJV)
Ok, so you are a Christian… Your faith is named after the Lord Jesus Christ… But how much do you really know about Jesus ?? Do you wake up in the morning and thank the Lord for the new day He has given you to glorify His name ?? Do you think about pleasing the Lord morning, noon, and night…praying for forgiveness every time the Holy Spirit convicts you of sinning ?? (1 John 1:9)
Are you doing your absolute best to “walkworthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him” ?? Is there fruit being produced by your good works done out of your love and devotion to the Lord ?? (John 15:1-8…&…James 2:14-26) Is your life being slowly conformed into the image of Christ ?? (Romans 8:29) Do you have the urgent, passionate desire to share your faith with those around you in need of hearing the message of the cross ?? (Matthew 28:19-20)…
If you can’t answer yes to all of these questions, don’t feel bad… I couldn’t either, for a number of years after God graced me with salvation… It takes time and devotion to wanting to learn more about our Lord and Savior… But once you grow in your knowledge and spiritual wisdom about the Lord…and your walk with the Lord matures to a point where you can say yes to all of these questions…Galatians 5:16…you will say to yourself…“Why did I wait so long to…“walkworthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him” ??”…
This is exactly what Dr. Charles Stanley tells us that you will say…when you finally have a passion for the Lord, above everything else… You could stop reading right here, and listen to Dr. Stanley’s list of 7 things you must do to develop this passion for the Lord… Listening to this 80 year old dedicated man of God, who is filled with spiritual wisdom, verbally tell you about what you must do to fall passionately in love with the Lord, is so much more edifying…than reading words on a page… The important thing is to just go ahead listen to him…with a paper and pen in hand to jot down his list…
Just go to http://www.intouch.org/broadcast/audio-archives and listen to Dr. Stanley’s 20 minute audio sermon…dated June 15, 2013…which he titles…“A Passion to Know Him – Part 2”…
I am not going to give you Dr. Stanley’s list of 7 things…but I will tell you his number one most important point… Open up your Bible, and start spending some time, the only possible way God gives us, to learn the exact details about how to become one of His children…and then how to make full use of the absolute mind boggling power of the Holy Spirit, that God will give to each and every one of His redeemed children…John 14:26…
I believe God’s inerrant Word, the Bible, is the best place to learn about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit…because many churches don’t give you exact and complete details like the Bible does… There is only one gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… Any other gospel, that leaves anything out, is likely a false gospel being preached by mere men… Here is a link to 55 Bible verses about “False Teachings”… http://www.openbible.info/topics/false_teachings
There is so much distortion of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…so many churches that preach “Works Salvation”…and so many churches that preach a gospel of Christ’s love…without speaking of the need of repentance, and the existence of hell…
The Bible is clear that there will be eternal separation from God in hell, for those who stubbornly resist seeking and finding Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior… This is accomplished after the sinner is first drawn in by God (John 6:44), and through understanding and obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…a personal one on One relationship is established when God graces the unbeliever with salvation, (See link at the end for this message of God’s gift of grace through saving faith alone in Jesus Christ…Ephesians 2:8-9)…
Sorry for going off tract about there being only one true gospel of Jesus Christ… Anyone with doubts about the need to understand and obey this one and only true gospel to get to heaven, should open the following link and read about the Apostle Paul’s severe warning for those who don’t, in…2 Thessalonians 1:8-9… http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2thes%201:8-9&version=NKJV
The more time the Christian spends diligently reading and digesting God’s Word…the more they will learn about the promises God gives to those that live according to His will… God’s Word is living and powerful…and it has the ability to forever change those that are filled with the love of Christ…Ephesians 3:16-19…
Hebrews 4:12-13… For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom wemust giveaccount. (NKJV)
Don’t just be satisfied to be a Christian saved by God’s grace… You will be missing all of God’s richest blessings that He promises to those that diligently seek Him…Hebrews 11:6… By totally submitting your life to God through a passionately growing love affair…God promises to have the devil fleeing for easier victims, as God grows closer to you…James 4:7-8… Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will drawnear to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (NKJV)
Friends these aren’t just words on a page…they are God’s Word, and they are promises God makes to His children that “walkworthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him”…
Heavenly Father, I know that Your Word promises to never return to You void…Isaiah 55:11… Use Your Word today Lord, to change heart and lives for an eternity… I pray for this fullness of Christ to rule in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
Blessings in Christ, bruce r mills
