Deuteronomy 4:2You shall notadd to the word which I command you, nortake from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.  (NKJV)

The opening scripture was spoken by Moses to the Israelites…  The wordhe was referring to was the Law given to Moses with the 10 Commandments atop Mt. Sinai…  We find out later in God’s Word that it was impossible for anyone to keep the whole law…  And if anyone stumbled in one small point of the law, they would be guilty of all…James 2:10For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yetstumble in one point,he is guilty of all.  (NKJV)

Thank goodness God sent down His Son Jesus Christ, to provide a way for those through saving faith alone in Christ, to be forgiven of their lifetime of sins…Ephesians 2:8-9…  God’s grace is a gift of salvation, freely given to those who have first been drawn in by God (John 6:44), and through understanding and obedience to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, they are redeemed by God as one of His children…  (See link at the end for more on God’s grace)

The opening scripture brings to mind what the Apostle John wrote through revelation from Jesus Christ, on the very last page of the Bible…  It was a warning not to add to, or take away anything from God’s written Word, or else !!

Revelation 22:18-19For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall takeaway his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.  (NKJV)

I read several commentaries on this eye opening scripture…  At first glance it appears that anyone who adds to or takes anything away from God’s inerrant Word, will have their name taken out of the Book of Life…  For those not familiar with the Book of Life…it is a book where God had written in the names of those who would become Christian’s in God’s eyes…before the foundation of the world…Revelation 13:8

The consensus of these articles (and my own thoughts), are that anyone accused of altering God’s Word would not have their name in this Book of Life to begin with…because God knew they would never ever become a believer with saving faith in Jesus Christ…  The following 2 links give what I believe is a good summary of this scripture from… Revelation 22:18-19…  http://www.gotquestions.org/erased-book-life.html  & https://bible.org/seriespage/revelation-appendix-6-book-life

There are however, many religions today calling themselves Christians, that have proposed doctrine written by man well after what has been accepted by the early church historians to include what is now the 66 Books of the Christian Holy Bible… (39 Old Testament Books and 27 New Testament Books)

The additional books some religions have in their Bible are called the apoctypha…  The notes from my John MacArthur Bible say that none of the New Testament writers, nor did Jesus Himself recognize any of these extra books seen in some Bibles…  MacArthur states that the 27 Books of the New Testament have been universally accepted since 350-400 A.D. as the inspired Word of God…

Here are a few of the links I researched, listing history on how the different Bibles have been formulated…

Heavenly Father, Your inspired 66 Books of the Bible are what most Christians use as the standard for what churches are to base their Christian faith upon…  Open the eyes Lord, of those who base their faith on tradition, or anything other than what has been accepted as the inspired Word of God…2 Timothy 3:16-17…  I pray for this truth to be revealed to those in need, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ,  bruce r mills

P.S. Here is a link for this most important days writing, about how God’s grace is received to become a Christian in God’s eyes; through understanding and obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ…
