Psalm 47:6-7Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding (NKJV)

When we worship God in spirit and in truth, we are true worshipers of God…John 4:23-24…
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”(NKJV)

Christians are to glorify the Lord God in all that they say and do.  For sure…singing praises to His name in church, is one way we can glorify the Lord.  Jesus, in this scripture above penned by John, tells us that the Father isseekingthose who worship the Father in spirit andtruth; and that this is a must, if Christians want to be considered a
trueworshiper of the Lord.

We cannot be a true worshiper of the Lord, if we come before Him trying to sing praise songs to Him, harboring sins in our hearts.   Do you want to be blessed by the Lord, when you sing praise songs to Him in church ??  You must first confess, turn from, and repent of your sins, through reverent prayer…1 John 1:9…

Does your church even sing praise songs to begin with ??  Or does your church sing the same songs week after week, in vain repetition; that Jesus warns us about when we pray, in…Matthew 6:7…  Do you Sing praises withunderstanding...meaning that your mind is focused on the Lord with a heart that is filled with the love of Christ…or are you just following along halfheartedly, as your mind is wandering off on plans for later that day ??  I know that when this has happened to me, there is no feeling of joy in my heart.

I’m here to tell you, that there will be real joy in the Christian’s heart, who is “Walking in the Spirit”, when they are singing praises to the Lord as a trueworshiper“.  We can see this God-given joy in scripture penned by the Apostle Paul, when he was writing to the Ephesians, in…

Ephesians 5:18-20And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,  (NKJV)

You may not be the best singer; but I have to believe that God will be pleased when He hears any songs that you sing (no matter how off key), when your heart, mind, and soul are focused on singing praises with understanding.

Heavenly Father, help all of Your children to come before You in prayer, in song, or at any time…in spirit and in truth.  Urge us Lord, through the Holy Spirit…to humbly submit our lives to You, and be blessed with all that You promise Your obedient children.  I pray for this fullness of Christ in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ,  bruce r mills
