“Making Our Team Mates Better”
“I’m eager to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. In this way, each of us will be a blessing to the other.” Romans 1:12 (NLT)
One of the greatest compliments any athlete can receive is that he makes his team mates better.
As disciples of Jesus Christ we are a team of believers running the race of life and God uses us all to make each other better.
There are many practical ways God can use us to make our brothers and sisters in Christ better.
As iron sharpens iron, we are to encourage and strengthen each other as we assemble ourselves together to worship. (Proverbs 27:17)
When we model the love of Christ in our relationship with them, it is going to strengthen and encourage them to do the same.
We can make them better by praying for them regularly, and by coming along side to comfort and support them in their times of need.
Sometimes God may use us to make them better by speaking the truth in love and holding them accountable when they stray.
Scripture teaches that a cord of 3 strands is not easily broken.
We were created for fellowship with God and communion with each other. There is strength in being on God’s team.
The people we associate with tend to build us up or bring us down to their level. We are all in this world and called to be the salt and light, that will call unbelievers out of darkness into light.
Once we are in Christ, we become new creatures and are no longer of this world. We must never live in the darkness of this world.
When we let our light shine as we live in community with other believers, God is going to use us to make our team mates better.
Father, use me as a building block and never a stumbling block to anyone. In Jesus’ name, Amen
