Matthew 7:24… “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:“ (NKJV)
Jesus spoke these words in the opening scripture, at the end of His “Sermon on the Mount” teaching (Matthew 5-7)…which was spoken by Jesus at the beginning of His public ministry to tell those around Him (and us), how to live their lives in a way that would be pleasing to God the Father…
The key for any true Christian to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18-20), is found by not only understanding God’s Word…but by living in obedience to God’s will and God’s ways… When a Christian is “Walking in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16), they are living a Spirit filled life that is looked upon by the Lord with favor, as God’s obedient child… But when the Christian slips and sins (as all of us will do), they become unrighteous (from a practical standpoint) in God’s eyes…and will remain so until their sins are confessed to the Lord, repented of, and turned from…
1 John 1:9… If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from allunrighteousness. (NKJV)
I am going to let Dr. Charles Stanley give you 13 key things to consider, to allow the Christian to build what Dr. Stanley calls…”A Strong Life” in Jesus Christ… His 20 minute audio sermon can be found @ http://www.intouch.org/broadcast/audio-archives by clicking on his September 12, 2013 sermon..
Dr. Stanley quotes the opening scripture spoken by Jesus, to start his sermon… And I will tell you, that number 1 on his list for building one’s life on a firm foundation is to first establish a personal one on One relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, by seeking Christ to become your personal Lord and Savior…
For more on what the Bible reveals about becoming a Christian in God’s eyes…please spend some time at the link at the end of today’s writing, to understand how the unredeemed sinner is graced by God, through saving faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ…Ephesians 2:8-9…
Without building one’s life on the solid rock of Jesus Christ, there will be absolutely, positively no way you will survive the storms of life that every one of us must pass through…and still be able to keep a positive outlook on life… You absolutely can have peace through any difficult situation or trial in life, if you are “Walking in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16), with the Holy Spirit in control of your life…
But once the unredeemed sinner is graced with salvation…and they are now a child of God in His eyes…this is just the beginning of building a strong life, as a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), that through sanctification, will mature one’s walk with the Lord, as their spiritual wisdom and knowledge of the Lord grows over time…
This check list given by Dr. Stanley, will allow the Christian to do a self examination…in order to truly understand what is necessary in the daily life of the obedient Christian, to progressively be conformed into the image of Christ…Romans 8:29…
Heavenly Father, I am ever so thankful for the truth of Your Word… Help all of us Lord, no matter what spiritual state we now find ourselves in…to listen to Your servant Dr. Stanley… By the power and the conviction of the Holy Spirit, urge us Lord, to do our best to work on the areas of our life that need improvement…so that we can build toward “A Strong Life” that will lead towards spiritual maturity in Christ… I pray for this fullness of Christ in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
Blessings in Christ, bruce
