Read Ephesians,
Psalm 34

                                          “Saint or Sinner?”

“Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.  9 Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.” Psalm 34:8-10

We have a tendency to undervalue the wonderful inheritance that we have when we by faith in Jesus Christ became joint heirs with Him.  We become dead to sin and alive in Christ.  We receive all of the rights of Son ship, which means that we have been sanctified and made holy in the sight of God and have become saints in the household of faith.

There are times that we don’t feel like saints.  There are certainly times that we don’t act like saints.  Thank God, our sainthood is not based on our feelings or performance, but on the performance of Jesus Christ in dying on the cross for us, so that we could be reconciled to God and become saints in His eyes.

We need to understand that there are two types of sin.  One has to do with our inherited curse of sin, the other with our sinful actions..

When we accept or have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, our inheritance changed from sinner to saint.  We are set free from the bondage of sin,  “Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1) We are no longer miserable sinners, but redeemed saints!

In spite of our new position as saints, our actions fueled by the flesh, the world, and the devil, are often sinful.  We should be ashamed, sorry; and then confess and repent of them.  We can be sure that God is at work in us, perfecting us into the image of Christ, and we are going to be like Him someday. In the meantime, let’s rejoice in the fact that we are no longer miserable sinners, but saints in the eyes of God.

Father, thank you for who I am in You!  By the power of Your Spirit, let me live like it.  Amen
