“Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20 NLT
When we realize that all of the known history of man recorded over the past several thousand years are but a few grains in the sands of timeless eternity, we can find new strength and comfort in knowing that Jesus has promised to be with us a longer time than we can even measure.
To know that we have a Friend who sticks closer than a brother in every circumstance of this life and the next gives great comfort, assurance, and hope.
It is when we trust in ourselves or others in times of trouble, instead of our refuge and strength and very present help that we get into trouble.
We can run, but we cannot hide from God’s presence. We can win lots of fights and battles, but we cannot win the war for our souls without the forever presence of God.
Whether the presence of God is in us as our hope of glory, or outside us when we refuse to receive Jesus by faith, and remain separated from and at enmity with God, makes all the difference in this world and in the next.
Nothing or no one can forgive and wash away our sins except the blood of Jesus. Nothing can give us the all surpassing peace and joy of God’s unconditional love except the blood of Jesus.
We can accumulate all of the wealth, the power, and the prestige in the world, but it is all only temporary.
The true riches and eternal treasures can only be found when we walk by faith in the all powerful and everlasting presence of the One who has promised to be with us always.
Father, help me to dwell in your presence forever. In Jesus’ name, Amen
