“Under New Management”

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked.” Ephesians 2:1, 2a  (NKJV)

When we become dead to sin and alive in Christ through receiving Jesus Christ as our Savior, we experience a new spiritual birth and receive a new spiritual birth right by the power of the Holy Spirit. This birthright is the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, who comes to take over the management of our lives.

Under the management of the Holy Spirit, sin has no more dominion over us.  We are free to be all that we can be in Christ, and empowered to do what God has called us to do in producing the good works for which we were created.  We are instantly restored and renewed, and we are continually being restored and renewed as God continues to conform us to the likeness of His Son.

We find ourselves giving up more and more control of the flesh and submitting more and more to the management of the Spirit, who is constantly at work guiding us into all truth, convicting us of our sins, and making intercession for us with God the Father.

The transformation worked by the Spirit within the hearts of believers is why they call grace “amazing.” We find that the things we wanted to do become things we no longer care about doing, as we discover the better, more satisfying, way of living in Christ. We find ourselves exercising our freedom to reject the influence of Satan and our flesh more and more, and to opt for living in the peace and joy of the Lord, bearing the fruit of His Spirit.

Can those around us see that we are under new management?

Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit, and for making me a temple for His presence.  In Jesus’ name, amen
