2 Corinthians 6:14… Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? (NKJV)
I am sure most of us have heard the saying…“Love is Blind”… But the Bible could not be any clearer in telling the Christian, that they should NOT marry (be yoked to) an “unbeliever”… That being said…I can’t tell you how many young Christians I know…living together with unbelievers (some with kids) out of wedlock…and some just dating unbelievers…that have broken this important scripture penned by the Apostle Paul, in the opening verse…
Today I write to warn any unmarried Christian, to get their priorities straight…before they even think of beginning a relationship with someone who is not a child of God… I have spoken to several married Christians, whose spouse is not a believer… I haven’t found one yet, that will say that they would make the same mistake today, now that they have experienced marriage life with an unbeliever… Life can be very difficult…
I know several unequally yoked couples…where the marriage never worked out… The reasons for their divorce are varied…but a spouse caught in adultery is high on the list…
Human nature urges us to look for a possible spouse that is handsome / beautiful… Finding the right individual with the right personality…the right sex appeal…common interests that are compatible…the right age…are all things that one might deem to be important, in finding the right mate…
But I am here to tell you, that the absolutely most important point for the Christian to look for…is whether or not this person they may be spending the rest of their lives with, is a Christian in God’s eyes… Failure to consider this most important point, can lead to a difficult marriage…and worse, a divorce in the end because of the unequal yoke between the Christian and the unbeliever… Why do you think God reveals this warning to us through His servant, the Apostle Paul ??
I watched 3 videos done by Francis Chan and his wife Lisa, which were dedicated to explaining the importance of a “Christ Centered Relationship”… I urge each and every reader looking for the right possible mate, that is not yet married…to watch all three of these videos, to see how absolutely beautiful a relationship can be…when both the husband and the wife have Christ at the center of everything they say and do…
Any Christian will find their lives running on all cylinders, at peak performance, so to speak…when Christ is at the center of their life… I often speak of the supernatural peace (Philippians 4:6-7), and the joy of a life filled with the love of Christ (John 15:11…Colossians 1:11…&…Jude 1:24), because of my own experience before, and after finally submitting my life to the Lord… You can be a born again Christian, and lose the God given peace and joy of walking with the Lord, that can only come about when the Christian humbly submits their lives to the Lord, and walks in the Spirit…
Galatians 5:16… I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (NKJV)
I pray that anyone looking for a future spouse would take the time to watch the following 3 videos, to visually see how a “Christ Centered Relationship” will make all the difference in God blessing both the husband and the wife, as they focus their live around the Lord Jesus Christ…

Heavenly Father, I pray that You urge those in need of hearing the truth about what should be the first priority in finding a spouse, to watch Your servant Francis Chan and his wife…as they tell us through their own blessed lives…why it is so important to center a couple’s relationship around You… I pray Lord, that hearts would be touched by You…and future lives would be blessed, by first centering relationships upon You and Your ways… I pray for these future weddings to be truly a “Marriage Made in Heaven”…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
Blessings in Christ, bruce r mills
