John 6:44… Noone can come to Me unless the Father who sent Medrawshim; and I will raise him up at the last day. (NKJV)
Does all this scripture I have posted so far look like “foolishness” to you ?? The apostle Paul pens this, in…1 Corinthians 2:14… But the natural man doesnotreceive the things of the Spirit of God, for theyarefoolishness to him; nor can heknowthem, because they are spirituallydiscerned. (NKJV) There has got to be a reason, if you have read this far…
The apostle Paul had just penned the following scripture in the chapter before this “foolishness” verse… It gives us insight into how God changes foolishness into belief, for those God saves…1 Corinthians 1:18… For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (NKJV)
Jesus tells His disciples (and us) this all important truth, as recorded by the apostle John, in…John 14:6… Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Noone comes to the FatherexceptthroughMe.” (NKJV)
The “way” to heavenis through this “message of the cross”, which involves understanding and obedience to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ… (See link at the bottom for more on God’s grace) The “truth”is found in the Word of God…and it will set the sinner free from Satan’s chains of bondage to sin…John 8:32… “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (NKJV) And the “life”that Jesus speaks about, is eternal life in heaven with His Father…
God gave us the Bible for us to understand what saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is all about, by hearing the Word of God…Romans 10:16-17… But they have notallobeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (NKJV)
Unbelievers can hear the gospel “good news” of Jesus Christ from God’s redeemed children, who have been commanded to go out and share their own testimonies and/or the gospel of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to those around them… This should include their families…people in their workplace…their neighbors…or even people they meet on the street… This command for all Christians to share the gospel of Christ was given by Jesus Himself, in His last spoken words to those around Him just before they watched, as Jesus ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father…Matthew 28:19-20…
Unbelievers can hear the gospel of Christ by reading God’s Word…where the gospel of Christ is presented throughout the Bible… Jesus tells us this, in…Matthew 4:17… From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (NKJV) Repenting, and turning from one’s sins, as one seeks the Lord with ALLof their heart, their mind, and their soul…is seen in several scripture verses from the Book of Deuteronomy to Revelation… Here is a link with the key words of repenting, and turning from one’s sins, and seeking or turning to the Lord with our whole heart…scattered throughout the Bible… http://www.seekgod.org/bible/repent.html
We can also hear “the word of God”, the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, presented at most Bible believing, Bible teaching churches that only teach doctrine found in the Bible… God uses His Word, however it is received…along with the Holy Spirit working in the heart, mind, and soul of those God has first drawn in (John 6:44)…through saving faith alone in the Lord Jesus Christ…to grace the sinner with salvation…Ephesians 2:8-9…
God’s wrath is indeed real… But so is the love God has for the world…so much so, that God sent His only Son down from heaven, as recorded by the apostle John, in…John 3:16… For God so loved the world that HegaveHis only begotten Son, thatwhoeverbelieves in Him should notperish but have everlastinglife. (NKJV)
Heavenly Father, I pray that You would draw those that You have not yet graced with salvation to Yourself…as their eyes are opened to the truth found in Your Word… I pray for this gift of grace, and the many temporal and eternal blessings it will bring into the lives of all of those who are redeemed by the shed blood of Your Son…in Jesus’ most precious name I pray…Amen…
Blessings in Christ, bruce r mills
