“What’s Your Weakly Offering?”
“ What can I give back to GOD for the blessings he’s poured out on me?” Psalm 116:12 MSG We generally think of our offering in terms of how much money we contribute to the Lord’s work every week, and if statistics that show that the average Christian gives less than 3% of a tithe are correct, we are generally giving very weakly. As important as our giving is, God says that our being is even more important. We are no longer required to offer a sacrifice but rather to be one by the washing of regeneration through the blood of Jesus. When we become a sacrifice by offering ourselves to the Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit, we are going to become true disciples of Jesus Christ by experiencing holy transformation through the daily renewing of our minds in subjection to God’s will and purposes. Being involves making the Kingdom of God first in our lives, and seeking it in every area of our lives. Our God is a jealous God, and he deserves our strongest and best instead of our weakest and worst. As we become more and more like Jesus by giving more and more of ourselves to the control of the Holy Spirit, we are going to become and accomplish all that God has created us and purposed to be. We need to take a daily inventory of what we are surrendering to be an offering this day. It may be surrendering our pride, lust, ego, or envy, or our time, treasures, or talents, but knowing that these are the sacrifices with which the Lord is well pleased should encourage us all to seek the Holy Spirit’s help in giving up what we cannot give up on our own. Father, keep me ever mindful of what I am gaining instead of giving up as I live to become a living sacrifice to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
