“When Greed is Good”

“Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. If you weren’t smart or strong to begin it, how do you suppose you could perfect it?” Galatians 3:3 MSG

When any greedy person is asked: “how much is enough”? the answer most often heard involves meaning: “just a little bit more”!

I would like to suggest that there is only one really good motivation for greed, and this is for: “just a little bit more of Jesus”!

Too many people are getting robbed blind by the deceiver of their souls making them believe that “just enough to get to heaven when I die”, is getting enough of Jesus.

As wonderful as this gift of eternal life is, it doesn’t do a whole lot to give the abundant life on this earth God wants to give us.

When we stop short of being transformed by the renewing of our minds and seek to know better, become more like, and get more of the love, grace and mercy of God through a living faith in Jesus Christ every day of our lives, we are short changing ourselves, and robbing a lot of others we love of blessings we can’t give if we don’t have.

God has promised to always give us not just a little bit more, but all of the grace we will need to help us escape any temptation.

As we get more and more of Jesus we are promised more and more of His joy, His friendship, answered prayers that are ours through abiding in Jesus and His Word.

As amazing as God is, and as amazed as we are at His loving and blessing us in spite of our sins, we must never forget that a lot of His blessings are conditional on our blessability.

Is it time for you to get greedy for Jesus?

Father, help me to hunger and thirst for your righteousness all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen
