“The Best Investment Portfolio”
“Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be.” Matthew 6:21 NLT
We usually think of stocks and bonds, 401K’s and material assets when we think of portfolios. Many depend on money managers or financial advisers to manage their portfolios to see that they grow and provide a good rate of return.
We also have a portfolio of good deeds that consist of the time, talents and treasures we invest in discipling others and building up the kingdom of God.
We all have been given a life to live and resources to manage until the Lord returns. Those who manage well will be rewarded with more to manage, while those who invest in the trivial pursuits of pleasure, power, and possessions will miss out on the rewards in this life and the next promised to those who manage their portfolio of life well here on earth.
When we put God first in our wallets, we are told that we will not only have more than enough for our needs, but also an abundance with which to be generous on every occasion.
Wise planning based on who we are in Christ, and where we are going because of our faith in Christ, leads to wise living. We should always seek to please God in all that we do by doing the good deeds which He purposed us to do before we were even born.
It behooves us all to make the best investment of the time, talents, and treasures we have been given, so that when our portfolio of good deeds is opened there will be plenty left after the wood, hay, and stubble is burned away.
