“Living Faith”
[ Faith without Good Deeds Is Dead ] What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? James 2:14 NLT
Although many consider it a precept rather than an organism, faith is a living thing created to grow to maturity like all living things.
Faith receives nourishment and grows through feeding on the Word of God, prayer, the encouragement and support of other believers, and cultivation by the Holy Spirit.
Like any plant or animal, it withers and dies if cut off from the source of nourishment’.
How sad that so many who were wandering aimlessly lost were redeemed and became dead to sin and alive in Christ, only to die and go back to bondage to sin.
A faith not lived is not living, but dead. Faith cannot flourish and grow without bearing fruit or giving other evidence that it is alive and well in the heart of any professing believer.
We must daily put on the full armor of God and keep it sharp through daily confession and repentance. As long as our faith is alive and being nourished, we have God’s promise that we will escape or overcome by His grace.
When we stop feeding our faith it will start bleeding. It can weaken and die from lack of nourishment. We must never let sin and death return by using our free will to disobey and return to the bondage from which we have been redeemed.
We are told to continually make a sober assessment of ourselves. We all might do well to consider how well we are living our living faith by loving and serving others.
Father, help me to live my faith in every area of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
