“Deal Breakers”

“I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.”Psalm 13:6 (NKJV)

Every real estate broker or salesman has encountered some sort of deal breaker that kills a sale prior to closing. It may be a credit turndown, defective title, buyer’s remorse, or failure to pass inspection, but it kills the deal.

Every business transaction and relationship can fall apart as the result of some sort of deal breaker.

Infidelity, financial irresponsibility, in-law problems and sexual incompatibility are deal breakers that have ended marriages.

Disobedience and idolatry have been deal breakers with God. Down through the centuries through covenant after covenant, God made wonderful deals with His children based on their obedience, only to have them broken.

God’s New Covenant of grace is the greatest deal anyone is ever going to get. When we think about His wonderful gift of eternal life we are tempted to think that it is too good to be true.

We grow up being taught that there is no free lunch, and that we have to work for what we get. The idea that someone would come down from on high, live a perfect life and die so that we could live forever is beyond all human understanding.

The fact that this gift is freely given to all who call upon the name of the Lord in true faith by the power of the Holy Spirit is amazing. The fact that the gift is irrevocable and guaranteed by the same Holy Spirit who calls us is astounding.

The only deal breakers to this wonderful offer are unbelief and unforgiveness which sometimes separates the truly saved from the unsaved, and from believers whose faith was too shallow to survive.

Lord, may unbelief or unforgiveness never become deal breakers in the wonderful faith based relationship I have with You In Jesus’ name, Amen
