Ephesians 4:29… Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. (NKJV)

This opening scripture is perhaps the most well-known scripture of the dozen or so scripture verses I found in the Bible, on the words that proceed out of our mouth… It is directed at Christians…and if followed, I believe would have a dramatic impact on showing those around us the love of Christ and His grace with-in us, as we show grace to others…no matter what circumstance of life we find ourselves in…

But today, I write for all teens and young adults, whether they are Christians, or not… If you are one who uses profanity, you might be asking yourself who am I to be speaking to you about what comes out of your mouth… You probably don’t like criticism, right ?? I would urge you to read my writing on this very subject, that I titled… “Do You Welcome Criticism ??”, that can be found @ http://www.Godsmanforever.com by typing 3/12/2013 into the search window… At the very least, please spend 4 minutes watching this short video which asks the question… “Am I A Defensive Person”…found @ http://illbehonest.com/defensive-people-are-prideful-mack-tomlinson

My motives for today’s writing are based strictly out of my love for the entire younger generation, and my concern for how words that are spoken or shared through e-mails, and on public forum’s like Facebook and Twitter, enter into the black hole of the internet…and can never really be completely erased… If you think I’m kidding…do a Google search on someone’s name… You can find out all kinds of information about them, going back for years…

Here is the kind of information I just found on a young adult that I know, that is available to the public for a small fee…

Criminal Records

Addresses

Arrest Records

Phone Numbers

Sex Offenders

Social Networks

Property Records

Age

Misdemeanors

Neighbors

Felonies

Relatives

Liens

Judgments

Associates

Lawsuits

Bankruptcies

Speeding Tickets

Vile, vulgar words spoken in videos or in print…lewd pictures posted anywhere on the web…these seemingly innocent postings now, done in fun or to be considered cool, will be out there for prospective future possible employers or institutions of higher education to check out, before final decisions are made on hiring, or acceptance into a college, or for a Masters or Doctorate degree…

But for the young adult that professes to be a Christian, using any words that are offensive, shameful, crass, crude, disgraceful, indecent, improper, rude, or dishonorable, is a sin that defiles a person…because it shows what’s truly in their heart… Jesus warns us about this, in…Matthew 15:18…as well as teaching us this, in…Matthew 12:35… A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. (NKJV)

The apostle Paul continues on after the opening scripture on speech, with this guidance for believers that he penned, in…Ephesians 5:3-4… But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; 4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. (NKJV)

My friends, in this corrupt and morally decaying world we live in…how many of us who consider ourselves to be a Christian, will laugh at off colored jokes, or send lewd e-mails that only those who haven’t been graced with salvation by God would send or forward… Say it ain’t so !! I came across this video titled…“Cussing Christians” – Pt 3 (Coarse Joking/Foolish Talking) that I urge anyone calling themselves a Christian to watch, and then pass on to others that could benefit from this godly advice found @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SidvTYm8n3c&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DSidvTYm8&app=desktop#aid=P8a7Ld3arxw

This video is filled with convicting scripture from the Old as well as the New Testament that should give you pause, so as not to consider any future part in speaking “filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting”…

The apostle Paul goes on to pen this to believers, in…Ephesians 5:8… For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. (NKJV)

And we also read this penned by the apostle Paul, in…Romans 13:12b-14… Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. (NKJV)

My friends, if we have been graced by God with salvation, we should be waking up each and every morning praying to the Lord to guide us in all that we say and do in the coming day… This to me is putting on “the Lord Jesus Christ”, to guard our hearts and our minds against the evil that we are sure to encounter when we walk out of our house…

I am going to finish with these words penned by the apostle Paul, describing the character of the “born again” believer, in…Colossians 3:12-14… Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. (NKJV)

Heavenly Father, I pray that Your living and powerful Word (Hebrews 4:12-13) would soften the hearts of those who don’t really find anything wrong with a little profanity once in a while… I pray Lord, that we as Your redeemed children can learn to “put on the Lord Jesus Christ” anew each and every morning…so that we can be beacons of lights (Matthew 5:16) in an otherwise dark and sin-filled world… I pray for this fullness of Christ in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ, bruce

P.S. You need help overcoming your use of profanity, or any other addiction you cannot control on your own ?? Look for the Lord’s help by understanding, and then obeying the gospel of Christ, explained in the following link…
