“Don’t Forget Your Password”

“Knowing the correct password—saying ‘Master, Master,’ for instance— isn’t going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills.” Matthew 7:21a MSG

The more we use the internet, the more we use passwords. Thankfully, most have a provision to email you a new temporary password when we forget.

When we consider the possibility of identity theft if our password should fall into the wrong hands, we should be happy that our internet banks, merchants, and service providers require passports.

We have another password far more important. This one is a matter of life or death. It might well determine whether we spend eternity in heaven or hell.

If God should ask you why He should allow you to pass over from this life into the eternal joy of heaven, what is your password?

“Good person”, “good parent”, “church member”,”generous giver”, “loving spouse”, and so many of the character and conduct attributes are all very good things and some may be well remembered and be rewarded when we get to heaven, but they will not get us there.

If getting to heaven was based on what we do or how good we were, none of us would make it for “all have sinned and fallen short of the righteousness of God”.

We can only get to heaven by knowing and believing the Good News that ““For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” The password that we must never forget is “Blood of Jesus”

Father let me never forget Whose I am, where I am going, and how I am going to get there. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
