“Working Out Instead of Walking Off”

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” Colossians 3:13 NIV

Every human endeavor is subject to differences of opinion, conflicts, and misunderstandings from time to time. We and everyone else are imperfect people living in an imperfect world.

The soaring divorce rate among Christians and non Christians alike give stark testimony to the fact that many are choosing to walk out instead of work out misunderstandings.

Ever since the devil gained a toe hold in Christ’s church from the very beginning, many have walked out because they have refused to work out their differences. Many churches in most every city, and the thousands of denominations now in existence, have come about primarily because people chose to walk out instead of work out differences.

There is a pride streak in most of us that makes us prefer being right to being reconciled. Pride somehow makes it very difficult to take our share of the blame, and to rise above other”s failure to do the same.

The realization of where we would all be today if God had let us walk out instead of work out our spiritual problems, should encourage us all to try to work it out in every situation. Worse still, where would we be if God had walked out on us the many times He could and probably should have.

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us to God, and we should always seek to be reconciled with those He has commanded us to love. We need to learn how to forgive and forget from The One who has not only forgiven us, but forgotten every sin we have every committed.

Father, give me the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit to work out instead of walk out whenever possible. In Jesus’ name. Amen
