                                          “Contradictions”

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine” Isaiah 55:8 NLT

To understand that some of God’s higher ways are not always going to make sense to us is to understand how great is our God.

The idea that we should love our enemies and bless those who persecute us makes no sense from a human perspective.  To understand that the more we give the more we will have is totally foreign to the world’s view.

The whole idea that we should “count it all joy” when troubles come and rejoice when bad things happen tests the limits of our faith and understanding.

We need to begin by asking ourselves whether we really believe that God is Sovereign, that He really does work all things for our good, and that He truly loves us and wants His best for us.

When we can accept these truths by faith, we are going to find that God’s apparent contradictions are really God’s recipe for making us better instead of bitter, as we struggle through the troubles of this world He said we would experience.

The idea that our Holy and Perfect God could love wretches like us, leads us into perhaps the most amazing contradiction of all.  That He would love us enough to come live through all the troubles this world has to offer, and die in order that we might live forever, is the greatest contradiction of all.  This is why it’s called Amazing Grace.

Father, give me the faith and power and strength of Your Spirit to accept and believe Your truths that are higher than my understanding.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
