Public Opinion Vs. God’s Word…

I can’t help but think of the words found in (Genesis 6:6):

With the events of the past several days, the following has happened:

• The Supreme Court has legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states.

• About 57% of all Americans agree that this is a good thing.

• Mr. Obama’s approval ratings have climbed to about 50%, the highest it has been in almost two years.

And with little doubt, the words of Genesis 6:6 have come true once again…

Those in the “world” call all of these things good and progressive. They see cause for celebration, and indeed, the “pride parades” take place across the country. But in heaven, there is no such joy to be sure.

When our nation asked for the poor and tired and persecuted to come to America, they promised life changing assurances. Our leaders, albeit with good intentions perhaps, sought to give the same rights of freedom to all people of every creed and nation to live as they chose to live.

But there is just one flaw in this kind of ideology; it is impossible to do, especially in today’s America!

When people of one belief cohabitate with others who hold to opposing beliefs, and both are given “equal rights” to live with absolute protection under the law, nothing but chaos and discord will ensue. It is a social “oxymoron.” Even when mutual respect is the intent, human behavior is usually not agreeable in such environments.

In the spiritual world, sin and righteousness cannot co-exist. That is why a pure and holy God cannot abide with sinful man. It is also why the Lord sent His Son, Christ Jesus, to shed His blood on the cross in order to “wash” us clean in the sight of God; to redeem or buy back our sins. By this, the sins of man are dismissed, and we are reconciled to God.

But such a reconciliation cannot take place in a world of sinners, especially where there is no recognition of a powerful being such as the Lord God! There is no “higher power” to use as a standard to resolve disputes between parties of opposing points of view. ALL have been given “equal” rights under the law of the land, and are expected to abide in peace.

Dear people, do not be diluted in this futile thinking. It is not possible for mere humans to live this way in harmony, and it is pure foolishness to believe that it can be so!

Of course Americans have always had differences in points of view, especially where political and religious matters are concerned. And we have still been able to lift up this country to a level of greatness. But the nation has become decidedly more indifferent towards God and His will, and the effects of this trend are beginning to yield negative results.

No longer do we see people willing to set aside the political, social, and philosophical differences they once used to in the name of Godliness, or even just for the sake of necessary unity. People now are more aggressive and belligerent, insistent upon their rights above all others. The appreciation of recognition has been replaced with a sense of entitlement, and the consequence is greater division, not the unity people claim.

This much seems true. Unless people are willing to abide by the laws of the Most High, as was the case when this nation was being formed, more problems will arise. The further we push God away, the darker the prospects for a greater nation grow.

America must begin to follow the Godly, Christian roots it once did, and we need to do so immediately. As with all things, nothing will grow and prosper in a good and desirable way without the nurture of the ideals from which  it was originally sustained…

It is time to take up the cause of Christ and restore the values which grew this country to begin with!
