Prayer…What is It? (Part 1)
By Patrick Hawthorne
Faith in a prayer-hearing God will make a prayer –loving Christian
John Wesley
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen*. Sadly, too many believers fail to hope. We fail to have mountain moving faith in a prayer hearing God thereby making of ourselves prayer stale Christian’s.
Prayer should be the stretching forth of the borders of our tents. It should be reaching up into heaven and pulling down Gods divine goodness to the earth. Prayer should be asking, seeking, and knocking. Prayer is going before Almighty God in awe in reverence, yet with an undeniable boldness which declares, “Let it be according to Your Word.”
Prayer is saying, “Father, You said,” and then not letting go till we have the answer as it lines up with God’s Word. Prayer is an uncompromising stand upon the promises of God. Prayer is communicating with our Heavenly Father.
Prayer believes so strongly in a force entrusted to us by our Divine Creator through Christ Jesus that we, by faith, have the ability to move heaven in order that it may kiss the earth. Prayer is a slow and steady race. Prayer is our nourishment whereby we gain our strength.
Prayer does not fit us for the greater work. Prayer is the greater work. Oswald Chambers.
