Are You Grieving…or worse…Quenching the Holy Spirit ??”
Hebrews 12:11… Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. (NKJV)
Do think it coincidence, that my next verse in line (this scripture above) that I try to post every day, is also found in today’s post on Gods group ? I see God at work here !!
If you’re a Christian living in constant unconfessed sin…like sleeping with someone outside of marriage…God will only give you grace for so long… God promises to chastise and maybe even scourge the ones He loves (Hebrews 12:5-6)…to get their attention, and bring them back into submission to His will and His ways…
When we as Christians are living in sin…we are in rebellion to what God wants for our lives… We are at the minimum…grieving the Holy Spirit…(Ephesians 4:30)… At worst, we are quenching the Holy Spirit…(1 Thessalonians 5:19)… How sad we should feel !! [See 1) below for a good explanation of these 2 scripture verses]
I might add, that if you are a Christian, and the Lord is not absolutely first in your life, (where the Apostle Paul commands us to be filled with the Holy Spirit in Ephesians 5:18-20)…then you too are living in sin… It is called the sin of omission, as found in…
James 4:17… So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin. (ESV) [Read 2) below for a good description of this sometimes not so obvious sin]
I pray the Holy Spirit convicts you right now…if you are in rebellion to God with an unconfessed sin, or anything you love more than the Lord… turn from this rebellion immediately !! Confess and turn from your sin (1 John 1:9), and start living a Spirit filled, Christ centered life… God will bless you beyond your wildest dreams… [See 3) below for a great description of living a Spirit filled life]
Heavenly Father, I pray that any of your redeemed children that have strayed from Your will for their lives by living in sin…would realize the sadness and the grief they are causing the Holy Spirit (and You)… I pray Father that they would be convicted to turn from their sin, and again be deemed righteous in Your sight… I pray that scripture in this post today would cut right to the bone of those living in unconfessed sin (Hebrews 4:12)… I pray for lives to be changed, as those who have strayed turn back to placing You first in their lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
