WHAT DOES GOD SEE?

Posted on October 26, 2024 by atimetoshare.me

Smiles are wonderful ways of expressing your joy, excitement, contentment, approval, and love, but sometimes a smile can just be a mask for what’s really going on in the mind of the face behind it.  Even the supposedly strongest among us need someone to rely on.

Women are especially vulnerable because we have been created to be nurturing individuals. We’re often depended on for security, companionship, advice, compassion, inspiration, encouragement, and motivation.  It’s not always easy dispensing those things when you need them too.    Because of these demands, we tend to get down on ourselves if we can’t provide.

Many women look in the mirror and hope to see the reflection of Super Woman – one who can do it all in just one fell swoop.  We demand so much of ourselves at times that that reflection often turns ugly.  We feel we can’t keep up – we’re inadequate – we don’t have the right stuff.  The demands of being a strong encourager soon catch up and that person staring back at us from the mirror no longer becomes a Super Nobody. Satan tricks us into thinking we’ve failed.  He wants us to believe that we’re useless.  By doing so, he also turns us away from our relationship with God. God is in complete control, even then. His power is beyond anything this world has to offer. He has already defeated the devil.

We need someone to take away our tears, our fears, our indecision, our concerns, our failures, and our worries.  Thankfully we’re invited to lay all our troubles on our God.  Jesus wants us to come to Him when we’re burdened with discouragement of any kind.  He loves the world so much that He gave His life for us.   He bathed us in His everlasting love and gave us His inheritance in Heaven.  Now, when He sees us, He sees only beauty – no sin – so ugliness – only beauty. He sees the face of His Son, Jesus. You are beautiful!

Jesus or bust - John 14:6

Written by Roland Ledoux, a good friend @ https://www.facebook.com/roland.ledoux.52

“Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven”

If you don’t want a Biblical answer, FROM God’s Living Word, the only authority and foundation we can rely on; then please don’t post questions or issues that demand a person of God to have to tell the TRUTH! For too, too long, Christians have been afraid that others won’t like them if they stand up firmly for the truth, and for too, too long they have tried to bully Christians with the comments that if you do speak the truth firmly, you are “harsh and unloving,” and a “loving” God wouldn’t and doesn’t look upon that as truth because God wouldn’t allow your FEELINGS to be hurt!

No, GOD instead, allowed His Son to come down to earth in the form of a man who in every way had to suffer the same temptations as each of us does and God who doesn’t want your “feelings” hurt, allowed His Son to voluntarily lay Himself down on a wooden cross, have metal stakes driven through His hands and feet and have His side pierced through with a spear until it reached His heart just so the very blood that was spilled would wash away not just the sins we commit, but the sinful nature that has held us as slaves!

He allowed Jesus’ feelings to be hurt in our stead so that His TRUTH and His TRUTH alone would stand the test of time, past, present, AND future! And because of that, there is no amount of wishing or no amount of denial that can erase the fact that Jesus’ way, and ONLY His way, will ever allow you a relationship to His Heavenly Father and thus into Heaven itself! He PAID for the TRUTH with His blood and only HIS blood can cleanse you from the deceit and lies of the enemy.

You can believe that God Almighty, the Creator that is keeping the Universe in balance makes mistakes at birth and that we are wiser than Him, but come Judgment Day, which there will be one whether you deny it or not, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus IS Lord of all and many will deny it until the very last step into His presence! (Romans 14:11).

Furthermore, on that day, Jesus Christ Who has been given authority to sentence us individually will, without consideration of your “feelings,” if you have rejected His WAY, His offer of and means of Redemption (Salvation) sadly turn to those who have rejected Him and dismiss them from His and the Father’s Light and fellowship!!!

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'”Matthew 7:21-23.

These are not my words; these were AND ARE the Words of Christ Jesus to His disciples while still here on earth! You can deny them all you want, but it doesn’t matter if you believe God is a loving God, or if His love understands your active sinfulness, the fact remains is there are going to be a lot who cry out Lord, Lord, but Jesus is going to say, “you used My name without my authority, why? Because I never had a relationship with you. I never knew you because you didn’t want a relationship with Me and what I say!!” If you call on the Lord, if you say you believe in God and that is enough, the ONLY way to call on God, THE FATHER, is by having a relationship with Christ Jesus WHO is ONE with the Father! Not my words again, His!!

I am on Facebook sometimes a lot, and sometimes weeks go by, but until the Lord calls me home I will NO LONGER cow down to people who are afraid of the truth found in the Living Word of God. If I am wrong, I will admit it, but I have had ALMOST 50 years of being in the Word, doing right and doing wrong but slowly moving away from the wrong and learning because of it. A relationship with the Heavenly Father, God Almighty, through and only through the Son, Jesus Christ, empowered and facilitated by the Holy Spirit can accomplish that in anyone’s life, but it has to be a life surrendered to Him once and for all.

No one is perfect, but a Christian lifestyle, WALKING with Christ, in fellowship with Him is continual practice, and when He returns for His disciples, we will be made perfect once and for all, but until then, it is only “practice, practice, practice that makes or leads to perfect!”

Walking in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16-26) - YouTube

“Stay Tuned In”

Galatians 5:16 NLT, “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”

Most of us can probably agree that it is not always easy to live by the Holy Spirit. As the verse mentions, sinful nature rises up to entice us. Plus, we live in a hectic world that sends us many signals, signals that work to draw our hearts and minds away from the Lord. Remaining intentional about staying tuned in to the voice and leading of the Holy Spirit will help us to not be led astray.

When we read and meditate on God’s Word, it will strengthen us so our thoughts and actions stay in line with His will. And honest communication with the Lord about everything through prayer will remind us that He is with us, is sovereign over our lives, and loves us unconditionally. Exchanging our worries for prayer, will also lead us to God’s perfect peace.

We all have times in life where we go through difficult challenges, and our faith and trust in God are tested. During these times, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us may seem especially hard, but no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, God is willing to help us in our time of need. Remember, nothing we face is too hard for God and He is faithful to us. He never changes. His love always remains the same.

Psalm 36:5 ESV, “Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.”

Stay tuned in to the Lord. He promises to direct our paths as we trust Him.

“The Heart-Mind Connection” 10/28/2024 Written by Beth Andrews for “Deeper Roots”

The Heart-Mind Connection

Posted on August 12, 2024 by Beth Andrews

The mind and heart are inextricably linked in the human psyche.

The heart as Scripture portrays it is the seat of thinking and understanding. It is where we find motivation based on reason and conscious thought and it is the root of our emotional nature.

When Moses gave his final address to the people of Israel, he knew their tendency to fearfulness, he said, “You may say to yourself, ‘these nations are stronger than we are. How can we drive them out?’ But do not be afraid of them; remember well what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt” (Deuteronomy 7:17). The phrase “You may say to yourself,” is the best expression for understanding the heart.

The heart is the place where we talk to ourselves; where we encourage, or for many of us discourage ourselves. You’ve had those conversations many times. “Come on, you can do this!” “What am I thinking? I can’t pull this off!” “Wow – I did it! I really did it!” “Oh no, I messed it up! Why can’t I do anything right?”

No wonder Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”

Likewise, the Greek word, Dianoia, is speaking of the mind, the part of the inner person that thinks and processes information for the purpose of making judgments and decisions. If the heart is where we find motivation based on reason and conscious thought, the mind is where we decide what we will do with that motivation.

Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this word, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”

Paul was both warning believers not to let themselves be turned into a copy of the world and counseling them to retrain their minds so they could make decisions based on their knowledge of what is good in the Lord’s sight, what pleases God, and what agrees with His perfect plan.

So, it’s easy to see why Paul included protection for our hearts – the Breastplate of Righteousness – and our minds – The Helmet of Salvation – in the Armor of God. The righteousness of Christ and the assurance of our salvation in Him cover the two most vital parts of who we are.

Beloved, there is a battle for your heart and mind. Be sure you are suited up well.

Will You Be Ready?

brm7

by Jim Weikal

“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.” It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. “It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed”                                                                  (Luke 17:26-30).

In the above verses, Jesus warns believers that He, the Son of Man, will return in circumstances similar to the pre-flood days of Noah and the destruction of Sodom. Specifically, He refers to eating, drinking, marrying, buying, selling, planting, and building. The emphasis of Messiah’s prophetic warning is on the people’s enjoyment of life’s mundane matters so much so that the return of the Son of Man catches them unaware.

We need to take a look at what the days of Noah were like: “God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, ‘I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth’” (Genesis 6:12,13).

The Hebrew word translated “corrupt” means “to ruin” and the verb “always refers to a ruin effected in the realm of community or individual experience” (Theological Lexicon of the Old Testament). The Hebrew word for violence is “hamas,” which means “wrong, do violence to, treat violently.” The lexicon goes on to state that the word “is used almost always in connection with sinful violence . . . [and] is often a name for extreme wickedness” (Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament).

The people living during the time of the flood and the destruction of Sodom had become so involved with, or so tolerant of, corruption and violence that they went on with life as usual. The majority had no idea what was about to overtake them. Eight people were saved from the judgment of the flood and only Lot and his family were saved from the sulfuric destruction of Sodom. Jesus gives us a solemn warning in Matthew 24:44: “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.”

Do not allow yourself to become so familiar with the corruption and violence of our time that you are not looking for, or are not ready for, the Son of Man’s return! God is a righteous God and He will judge corruption and violence as we have seen in the past. Only a very few people were ready to face God’s past judgments. How about you today?

“God doesn’t make any mistakes”

Woe unto the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me, and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin.

Isaiah 30:1

Have you ever needed help, but after you sought it, you realized that you had went to the wrong place to get it? The Word of God can help us to learn from the mistakes of others. You see, Israel had sought help down in Egypt, far away from God. Help down there was just a pipe dream, just a mirage in the desert.

Matthew 6:33 tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and then all the good things will be added unto us. We have to allow God to be our source. Taking counsel from the secular and the ungodly is just another path to a train wreck. Sadly, many today are taking lots of counsel, but little of it is coming from God. They are covered, but not covered by the Spirit of God. Their covering is hard and cruel, with no humility or kindness. I pray your counsel is coming from God and His Word and not some man, or some man-made premise. God gives us wise counsel. We would be wise to take it.

The Spirit’s Applying Work

He will take what is mine and declare it to you.

John 16:15

There are times when all the promises and doctrines of the Bible are of no help unless a gracious hand applies them to us. We are thirsty but too faint to crawl to the water-brook. When a soldier is wounded in battle, it is of little use for him to know that there are those at the hospital who can bind up his wounds and medicines to ease all the pains that he now suffers: What he needs is to be carried there and to have the remedies applied. It is the same with our souls, and to meet this need there is one, even the Spirit of truth, who takes the things of Jesus and applies them to us.

Do not think that Christ has placed His joys on heavenly shelves so we may climb up and retrieve them for ourselves; rather He draws near and sheds His peace abroad in our hearts. Christian, if you are tonight struggling under deep distress, your Father does not give you promises and then leave you to draw them up from the Word like buckets from a well. The promises He has written in the Word He will write afresh on your heart. He will display His love to you and by His blessed Spirit dispel your cares and troubles.

Let it be known to you if you mourn, that it is God’s prerogative to wipe every tear from the eyes of His people. The good Samaritan did not say, “Here is the wine, and here is the oil for you”; he actually poured in the oil and the wine. So Jesus not only gives you the sweet wine of His promise, but He holds the golden cup to your lips and pours the lifeblood into your mouth. The poor, sick, worn-out pilgrim is not merely strengthened to walk, but he is lifted up on eagles’ wings. Glorious Gospel that provides everything for the helpless, that draws near to us when we cannot reach it ourselves—it brings us grace before we seek grace! There is as much glory in the giving as in the gift. Happy people who have the Holy Spirit to bring Jesus to them!

On God’s Side

09MondaySep 2024

Reading: Psalm 35:1-6
Of David.
Contend, LORD, with those who contend with me;
fight against those who fight against me.
Take up shield and armor; arise and come to my aid.
Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me.
Say to me, “I am your salvation.”
May those who seek my life be disgraced and put to shame;
may those who plot my ruin be turned back in dismay.
May they be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the LORD driving them away;
may their path be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the LORD pursuing them (NIV).

David was a man acquainted with warfare. Throughout his life, Israel was in a prolonged struggle with its neighbours, even as it is today. From time to time this struggle would flare into open combat. Quite naturally in those times David would turn to the LORD in prayer. Psalm 35 is David’s call for help against his enemies—enemies that may be external or internal.

Who doesn’t want God on their side? The answer is obvious; we all want God’s help when we find ourselves in trouble. Therefore, David cries out: Contend, LORD, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me.

But there are some questions we should ask ourselves before we enlist the LORD’s help. Am I being truthful? Is my cause just? Am I in the right? Do I know all the facts in this matter? Am I seeing this issue solely from a narrow personal perspective? Finally, we should ask ourselves if our heart is right. One can be totally right about a matter, but have a heart that is full of hate, bitterness, jealousy, and anger.

God always stands on the side of truth and justice. He knows the full extent of a matter. He sees all sides, not just our perspective. We can’t fool Him or hide from His searching eyes. “The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked, those who love violence, he hates with a passion” (Psalm 11:5). Therefore, we need to come before Him humbly with hearts opened wide.

David asks this of the LORD: Say to me, “I am your salvation.”

The LORD will be our salvation—He is on our side—if our hearts are open and humble before Him. David’s confession in Psalm 51 confirms this truth. “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise” (Psalm 51:17). In other words, God is on our side when we move to His side in honest, humble contrition.

Response: LORD God, give me a humble heart that sees beyond my narrow interests. Help me to stand for righteousness, justice and truth. First, I want to align my heart and my spirit with you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Your Turn: Has the LORD fought on your side? Did you need to get your heart right first?

Romans 5:3-5 (NKJV)

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Looking at these verses reminds me of how I can give glory to the Lord even in the midst of difficulties. I can know that God has a purpose for each trial that I face; even if He has not revealed what the reason is. He gives trials to believers to help us change and grow. As a believer I need to be sanctified and turn to the Lord quickly when trouble comes my way. He is faithful and compassionate to give us what we need and to answer our prayers.

Perseverance is the product and result of spiritual trials. My desires need to be for holiness and growth in my understanding of God and His word. I need the Lord to continuously point out my sin and faults because of my own spiritual blindness. Only He can make me holy and to reflect Christ and His character. The Holy Spirit works in my heart to change my sinful and stubborn ways. Knowing His promises are true I can have confidence and pray for holiness and cry out to God for help.

Our hope is in Christ and He can give us the love that we need to share the gospel with others. The gospel is our standard and our encouragement. Christ is our perfect example of how to respond during tribulations.

He used Scripture, meditated on His Father’s promises, and prayed continuously, and His desires were to please God the Father in all things. May each new day we seek Him and be thankful for another chance to serve our Lord and King. May we begin each morning in prayer, meditation on Scripture, and in praise to the Lord for His goodness.

“Learn from Jesus”

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Matthew 11:29

Life is hard. The demands of work, parenthood, and all of our obligations weigh us down. Imagine how crushing the weight would be if we had to toil to satisfy God’s demands, too. Thankfully, God has sent Jesus to bear the burden for us. When we take on the yoke of working for His kingdom, we paradoxically find rest. How does this happen? As we walk with Jesus, he does the heavy lifting for us.

Prayer:

Lord, thank you for easing my burden and granting me the rest found in Your mercy and forgiveness. Teach me to walk in Your gentleness and grace. Thank You for providing me the strength to serve You and for sending Jesus to carry the weight that should have been mine. In His gracious name, In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
