Philippians 2:7-8but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  (NKJV)

The whole idea of God sending His only Son down to earth, to live among us as a mere man, and yet fully God…is truly one of the mysteries found in the Bible, that we mere humans often have a hard time comprehending… Jesus came as a baby, born of the Virgin Mary…  Mary was told by the angel, that her Son was to be named Jesus (Luke 1:31)… And Mary knew that her Son was to be the Son of God…

Luke 1:35And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”  (NKJV)

Mary knew quite well what becoming pregnant out of wedlock in those days meant… It was punishable by death through stoning (Deuteronomy 22:13-21)… And yet Mary willingly submitted to the will of God…

Humility is an absolute necessity in the life of a Christian, if they want to be pleasing to their Father in heaven…  Jesus came as a man, who was not only humble; Jesus lived His entire sinless life with one goal…to be obedient to His Father in heaven… Jesus knew what His task was, here on earth…  And Jesus never once veered from His mission; to die on the cross to be the Savior of those who seek and find a personal relationship with Him…

Our desire as Christians should be to please the Lord, just as He lived a life to please His Father in heaven…  Is pleasing the Lord easy ??  Not by a long shot, at times…  But when our choice is pleasing God, or our fellow man…the Bible is clear about what our choice should be…  The Apostle Paul says it best, in…Galatians 1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.  (NKJV)

As Christians, let’s all do our best to keep Christ first in our lives; and then look to others first…always putting the needs and desires of our loved ones ahead of ourselves… The Apostle Paul gives the Philippians (and us) some good advice, in…Philippians 2:3-4…  Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.  (NKJV)

This Christmas season, let’s live for the Lord, and let our own light shine like the ornaments that decorate our houses… Jesus says this best, in…Matthew 5:16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.  (NKJV)

Heavenly Father, help all of your children remember the reason You sent Your Son to be their Savior… Help us Lord, to be worthy of the grace You have freely given us… I pray for Your will to be done in and through our lives…in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
