                               “Captivating Christianity”
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”  2 Corinthians 10:5  (NIV)

Life is all about control.  To know the difference between what we can control and what we can’t is a prerequisite for wisdom.  It is a great source of comfort for all believers to know that God is in control of all things.

On an individual level we are all going to be controlled by our flesh or by our spirit.  As long as we choose to reject God’s wonderful call to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, we are going to remain in bondage and captivity to our sin nature.
Just as we are without excuse in not knowing God, we are without excuse in being held captive by the sins of our flesh, after we have been set free through a new birth through faith in Jesus Christ.  We are called to be captivating Christians through obedience.
Captivating Christianity is all about becoming captors instead of captives.  When the power of the Holy Spirit living within us becomes manifest, we can appropriate the all sufficient grace and supernatural strength of God to become conquerors of every sinful thought, and capture them before they take us back into the captivity from which we have been set free.
When we submit to the lordship of Jesus Christ and become obedient to His will, the self-control of the Spirit kicks in, and the bondage to the will of and control by the flesh is kicked out.
Lust, addiction, pride, anger, envy, and the other abominations of God will no longer have control over us when we capture every thought, word and deed and make them obedient to Christ living in us.
When we become captivating Christians, we will not only just say “no” to our sins, but the one who has set us free will keep us free in the security of His love; and by the resurrection power of His Spirit make it possible for us to overcome any sin or temptation that comes our way.
Father thank you for giving me the gift of self-control to live as a captivating Christian.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
