                                       “Something to Look Forward To”

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31  (NKJV)

Life seems to be filled with looking forward to seeing, doing, or going.  We look forward to on a daily, weekly, yearly, and stages of life basis.

Children start by looking forward to going to school, and then to school being out, Adolescents look forward to graduating and getting a driver’s license. Adults look forward to love, work, marriage, and a baby carriage.

We look forward to vacations, family reunions, parties, and sporting events. I doubt if very many people look forward to going to jail, going to the dentist, or to the hospital.

It’s hard to imagine anyone looking forward to going to hell.  In spite of all the evidence and the clear warning of Scripture, people just don’t believe that hell exists.  They will when they get there.

Whether people believe in it or not, ignorance of the reality of hell and the torment that awaits all who go there, will be no excuse when the judgment that we all must face comes.

If the trials and tribulations of this world were all that anyone had to look forward to, life would hardly be worth living.

How much better and more blessed it is to be able to look forward to living forever in the sinless perfection of heaven, where there is no more sickness, no more sorrow, no more sin, and where we will be reunited with our family and friends who have gone on before.

The crown of eternal life that is promised to all who call upon the name of the Lord to be saved by faith, and who persevere in that faith in the strength and resurrection power of the Holy Spirit, is the greatest thing anyone could ever have to look forward to.

Father, thank You for the joy of looking forward to my forever life in heaven. In Jesus; name, Amen
