Psalm 49
“Everyone Needs the Lord”
“Jesus replied, “I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the Kingdom of God.” John 3:3
Jesus Christ came to save the good, the bad, and the ugly, the rich and the poor. He came to offer living water to the wise and religious like Nicodemus, the rich and morally upright like the rich young ruler, the unscrupulous like the tax collector, and the sinful like the woman at the well.
No one can earn the living water of eternal life by their morality or by their own efforts. Everyone must be born again by receiving the Holy Spirit as the gift of God’s grace and the conduit of living water into our soul.
Whether we are good, bad, or ugly makes no difference. God is not a respecter of persons. He died for all, and offers the living water of salvation to all who will die to self and become alive in Christ.
The good may feel that they don’t need a Savior. The bad may feel that they are beyond the reach of the Savior. The common ground for all is receiving the living water given by God through the power of the Holy Spirit which opens the eyes of our spiritual blindness to the understanding that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
When we are born again we receive the presence of Christ living within us, and begin living life His way with a new purpose and attitude.
When we find our needs for security and significance met in a close and personal faith relationship with Jesus Christ, we will find the all surpassing peace and joy that can only be found in Him.
The living water that fills us will start flowing through us and out into the lives of others as we begin fulfilling the purposes for which we have been created.
Father, keep me safe and secure in the new life I have found in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen
P.S. (from bruce) Here is a link for this most important days writing for how to be “born again” as John 3:3 reveals above…which is about how God’s grace is received to become a Christian in God’s eyes; through understanding and obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, after first being drawn in by God…John 6:44… https://godsmanforever.wordpress.com/2013/07/11/gods-group-thoughts-for-7112013-the-truth-about-sin/
