“Limited Time Offer”
“All the fancy things you loved so much are gone,” they cry. “The luxuries and splendor that you prized so much will never be yours again. They are gone forever.” Revelation 18:14
We live in a world of limited time offers. “If you hurry”, “Act Now!”, “1 Day Only” are just a few of the advertising catch words attempting to create a sense of urgency so that we might drop everything and go out and buy that car, shirt, or deodorant while it is on sale.
It’s sad commentary on life that so many will rush to take advantage of a limited time offer for a 12 pack of Coke and have no sense of urgency for taking advantage of God’s wonderful offer of eternal life.
God’s offer of eternal life is limited by our death, or His return – either of which could happen at any time.
Putting off reconciliation with God through faith in Jesus Christ is like playing with fire. We are eventually going to get burned beyond recognition without any future or hope of ever experiencing the joy of eternal life in this life and the forever life that is to come to those who are found in Christ,
When Jesus comes knocking at the door of our heart by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can ignore Him and go on pursuing the road to rags, or receive Him by faith and get started on the road to riches that are ours in Christ.
When our day of reckoning comes we should all hope to be found under the shelter of God’s wings of grace, ready to meet Jesus and live with Him forever in heaven. This is one “limited time offer” we dare not ignore.
Father, keep me ever mindful of helping the lost be found before it is too late. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
