This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Share the Gospel.
This passage stood out to me. Hear Mark 16:15: “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” The command here is of what the church is suppose to do. Yet sometimes there are people who are not saved who do attend our churches. Do you know who they are? Have you thought about the opportunity to share the Gospel to them?
Don’t just think this is something the preachers are to do. Yes the Pastor should preach the Gospel every week. But you also have the privilege of sharing the Gospel to these individuals!
Again remember Mark 16:15. We are suppose to go preach the Gospel all over the world. Yet don’t forget those who are not saved who are in the midst of the Church! While we are called to “fish” out in the World, sometimes God allows us to fish within the “Aquarium” called the Church.
Practically speaking ask the person “Where are you with spiritual matters?” Or even more direct: “Where are you with Christ?” and “Where are you with trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?”
Listen to them after you ask.
As they speak pray. Pray for them. Pray for the opportunity to plant seeds in a meaningful way.
Look for the opportunity to clarify what the Gospel means. Sometimes its helpful to even ask point blank: “Let’s say you are the pastor who preaches God’s Word; what would you say the message of Jesus Christ is about?” Listen and be ready to affirm what’s true, correct what’s a misunderstanding and drive home the need of the Gospel.
Do you feel scared that the person will not receive it well? Such an individual is at church; it is reasonable to expect someone to talk about spiritual matters about God and Jesus! So don’t be caught up in fear, realize its what the Church is about: God, Jesus and the Gospel.
