“Beware of evildoers”
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof comes envy, strife, railing, evil surmisings.
v 5: Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness; from such withdraw thyself.
1st Timothy 6: 4-5
Who is this “he” in verse 4? It is the “he” or even the “she” who teaches things contrary to the doctrines of the Word of God. Any person who teaches falsely is full of pride and understands absolutely nothing. They are sick with a love for fighting and arguing about WORDS. And this does nothing but stir up trouble among friends and family. They are known for causing trouble shouting insults and promoting hatred and jealousy.
They may give “love” lip service, but really there is not any love found in their actions, attitude, or words. They have evil minds, and Paul is teaching us that they have lost the truth and really have no regard for it. And the best thing we can do is to withdraw ourselves from these kinds of people until they embrace the truth.
This morning I praise and thank God for pastors, preachers, and teachers who proclaim God’s word. I praise him for parents who make sure they worship God with their children and take them places where they will encounter people who love the Lord. For you see, people who don’t love the Lord are a confused and evil bunch. And you can expect nothing but trouble and confusion from them.
