“Do you fear the Lord ??”
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
Matthew 2:4
The wise men had told Herod of the sighting of the Star of Bethlehem. They told Herod that they had come to Jerusalem in search of the newborn child who would be born the King of the Jews and had come to worship Him. This caused Herod to fear the child. The Bible proclaims that Herod was troubled, and anytime you have a troubled madman in charge, all under him are troubled too.
The account of the birth of Jesus reveals many different responses by different people to His birth. It is still that way today. Some people FEAR the Savior in a bad way. It causes them trouble and makes them trouble others too. But some fear Him in a good way. That fear instills a heart of gratitude, compassion, love, and worship, deep within them. And instead of attempting to take Christ OUT of everything, they have a mind to put Him first in all things.
This morning I am thanking God when sane people are in powerful positions. And I’m thanking Him for allowing us to endure a time when people who have no respect or regard for Him cause much trouble in our country. And I worship my Lord and Savior who is God with us, God in the flesh of a man, but still with the heart of a powerful and loving God. He is worthy of our worship!
