Gods group thoughts for 11/20/2012 “Supernatural Help”

Galatians 5:16-17I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.  (NKJV)

I often write about how God wants the Christian to be walking in the Spirit…  I posted this opening scripture yesterday, (written last Saturday), when my writing was about living a Christian life that would be pleasing to God…  Every Christian will be either trying to please God by walking in the Spirit; or they will neglect what the Holy Spirit is urging them to do, in favor of fulfilling their own fleshly desires…  I don’t have to tell any devout Christian, that this will be a moment by moment struggle every day, for the rest of their lives…

Satan and our own flesh, will attack the Christian in a lifelong struggle, for those Christians who are not wearing the whole armor of God”, that the Apostle Paul writes about, in…Ephesians 6:10-20… Here is the link for those who have never read about this spiritual armor God wants all of His children to put on, piece by piece…   http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=eph6:10-20&version=NKJV

There are 6 pieces of spiritual armor that will help the Christian to fend off Satan’s temptations to sin…Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  (NKJV)

Praise the Lord for the truth of His Word… I have personally been able to (for the most part), defeat Satan’s temptations to sin, through wearing God’s whole set of spiritual armor for over three years now…  Please don’t think of this as boasting in my own strength…  Just like the Apostle Paul, in…Galatians 6:14…my boasting is in the power of the Holy Spirit, and the promises that God makes to help Christians stand against Satan, to those who put on God’s full set of spiritual armor…  You could also call this “Putting on the Lord Jesus Christ”, as the Apostle Paul writes, in…Romans 13:14But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.  (NKJV)

Getting back on track for today’s writing…it is the last part of the opening scripture, which I want to address today…   Walk in the Spirit, so that you do not do the things that you wish.”  Satan and our own flesh will always try and entice us into sinning…especially with those things that will fulfill the pleasurable lusts of the flesh…  There is a long list of sins that this would include; but the big ones are adultery, fornication (sex outside of marriage), spending time viewing pornography, the use of illegal drugs, or even the excessive consumption of alcohol…

A Christian who is living for the Lord, and walking in the Spirit as a Spirit filled Christian (Ephesians 5:18-20), will be immediately urged by the Holy Spirit to not partake in these lust-filled sins…even though their flesh or Satan is telling them that it is OK to go ahead and indulge…  We see this very clearly in this scripture written by the Apostle Paul, in…

Romans 8:5-8For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.  (NKJV)

There are a couple of scripture verses that urge the Christian to set their minds on God, and  His will; and not on what their own flesh wants, or what the world does, as listed in …1 John 2:15-16

Colossians 3:2Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.  (NKJV)

1 Peter 1:13Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; (NKJV)

When we wake up in the morning as a Christian…we should first thank the Lord for keeping us safe through the night…  And then we should pray to God to help us set our minds on Him, and what He wants from us for the day…

It is only by yielding our lives to God, as we walk in obedience to God’s will and His ways, that we will have the power to obey the urges of the Holy Spirit, and be able to say NO to Satan and our own fleshly desires to sin…

I listed to Dr. Charles Stanley’s message this past Sunday, called… “Walking in the Holy Spirit” – Part 2 (11/17/12)  …I would urge every reader to bookmark the following link, and listen to this inspiring message of hope, and the power of the Holy Spirit to help keep the Christian walking down the path that God has chosen for them…   http://itm.edgeboss.net/download/itm/audio/radio/2012/itm20121117.mp3

I am also posting a short video I saw this morning on Facebook, to vividly remind Christians of how much pain and suffering Jesus went through, when He took on the sins of those who God has and will grace with salvation…  https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=mtR5-OoMhPM

Heavenly Father, I pray that all Christians would reach a point in their lives, where the full power of the Holy Spirit will be able to overcome most of the temptations of sin from Satan and their own flesh… Once a Christian experiences the absolute joy and the supernatural God given peace (Philippians 4:6-7) of their Spirit filled lives…and remembers how much they owe Christ for shedding His precious blood for them on the cross, to cleanse them of their sins…I pray they would from that point forward, always keep Christ as the focal point of their lives… Help all of us Lord, to live in a way that would always be pleasing to You… I pray for Your grace for all of us, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…
