Luke 9:26For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.” (NKJV)

Jesus is speaking about unbelievers in this opening scripture…  True Christians would never be ashamed of Jesus Christ…  But many of us (me included for over 7 years after becoming a born again Christian)…rarely, if ever, share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ with those around us in need of hearing the truth about God’s grace…

For a Christian to be comfortable in sharing their faith, I believe it requires 2 things…  A spiritual wisdom of exactly how God’s saving grace is received…and then total assistance through the power of the Holy Spirit, to give us the boldness that we need to share the gospel of Christ…as Jesus commanded all Christians to do, in…Matthew 28:19-20…  (See link at the end for more about God’s grace through obedience to the gospel of Christ)

I received a John MacArthur study Bible on Father’s Day from my kids, a few weeks after God graced me with salvation…  I had read the Bible cover to cover several times in the first 7 years…  But I had only shared the gospel of Christ with 2 people during that time…

All Christians should be able to share their own testimony of God’s grace in their lives with others…  But to be able to answer questions, especially questions that require knowledge from reading the Bible, only comes from reading God’s Word, and letting it dwell richly with-in the Christian’s heart, mind, and soul…

Colossians 3:16…  Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  (NKJV)

My problem of not sharing the gospel, which I have mentioned many times in past writing, was that I had somehow, slowly over time…taken back control from the Holy Spirit…  It wasn’t a question of backsliding with sins that had gone unconfessed…  I am a fervent believer in total protection from Satan, as long as the Christian is fully clad in the “Whole Armor of God” that the Apostle Paul writes about from his prison cell, in…Ephesians 6:10-20…  Here is the link for those who want to read this important scripture…  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=eph6:10-20&version=NKJV

But all of the head knowledge I had gained from reading the Word, did not give me the confidence to share the gospel of Christ to those I need…  It wasn’t until I had given back total control to the Holy Spirit, that the combination of my spiritual wisdom from reading the Bible, coupled with the boldness and help from the Holy Spirit…empowered me with the confidence and the urgent need to share my faith at every opportunity…

After Jesus had told His disciples that His Father was going to send them the Holy Spirit, to help them after Jesus had gone to be with His Father (John 14:26)…Jesus told His disciples not to venture out to share the good news of the gospel, until they were empowered with the Holy Spirit…

Luke 24:49… Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”  (NKJV)

On the Day of Pentecost, right after the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit…the emboldened Apostle Peter, preached the gospel of Christ to many people…  On that day, the Bible records that 3,000 people became Christians…Acts 2:1-47…   Here is the link for this monumental day… http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts2&version=NKJV

Friends, I’m here to tell you that every Word of the Bible has never been found to be inerrant in any way…  All of God’s children have been called to share their faith with others… But we must be filled with the love of Christ that goes beyond mortal knowledge…Ephesians 3:19-20…by submitting our lives to the Lord…along with feeding our heart, mind, and soul by spending time digesting the Word…Matthew 4:4

The Apostle Paul pens this, in…Philippians 4:13…  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (NKJV)

We as Christians will probably never get a chance to share the gospel of Christ to a group of people like Peter did…  But we can be emboldened with the same power the Apostle Peter had, by totally submitting our lives to the Lord…and allowing the Holy Spirit to fill us with the right words at the right time to plant the seeds toward salvation that only God can bring to fruition…

Heavenly Father, I pray that Your Word today would be used by You, to energize Your children like never before, to see the urgent need of sharing their faith with those that don’t yet know You as Lord of their lives…  I pray for this fullness of Christ in all of our lives, in Jesus’ most precious name and for His sake…Amen…

Blessings in Christ,  bruce r mills
