                               “Against All Odds”

  “Don’t gamble on the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, hocking your house against a lucky chance. The time will come when you have to pay up;  you’ll be left with nothing but the shirt on your back. Proverbs 22:26,27 MSG

    The odds of winning the lottery are 1 in several million, and yet millions of people spend billions of dollars betting against all odds.

     From a spiritual perspective, the establishment of the Kingdom of God through one solitary life, death, and resurrection was against all odds.  The spread of the gospel throughout the world by a handful of rag-tag disciples was against all odds.

     The odds of living forever without faith in Jesus Christ are 0 in 1 trillion.  The chances of living a happy and prosperous life apart from God are almost as bad.

     It is a sad commentary that more and more people are choosing to live against the odds.  In spite of the proven probability of getting cancer and heart disease by smoking, millions of people continue to smoke.

     In spite of  the odds of getting AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, millions of people continue to live promiscuously.

     When we live within the boundaries of conduct God has established for our protection, the odds start working in our favor.

     When we are truly born again the God of all possibility comes to live within us. When we receive His wonderful gift of salvation through faith, we are betting on the sure thing!.

     Why, oh why would anyone choose to take chances trying to do life against the odds?

   Father, thank you for removing all the odds against me living forever with you in heaven, by the power of the Holy Spirit living within me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
