This was a thought that I had from my devotionals last night.
On the one hand the Scripture records Jesus as being the Shepherd.
For instance the Apostle Peter identifies Jesus as “Shepherd” in his epistle:
For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls. (1 Peter 2:25)
Jesus identifies Himself as the Good Shepherd:
I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me, (John 10:14)
Peter even calls Jesus the “Chief Shepherd:”
And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. (1 Peter 5:4)
Then the Book of Hebrews calls Jesus “the Great Shepherd:”
Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord (Hebrews 13:20)
Jesus tells us in what ways He’s a good shepherd:
I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. (John 10:11)
Yet on the other hand Jesus is the Lamb of God. He’s the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!
The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29)

Thanks again for sharing this!
